Add Mountain and Stir!

Capturing the grandeur of a beautiful vista is a huge challenge. Add in the improbable size of a mountain and the task seems insurmountable. And yet I try to retain some of that sense in my photos recognizing that standing there breathing it all in is the best it will ever be.

There are quite a few mountains in my best scenes of 2015. Would a mountain appear in your favourite?

There is really something special about mountains. I grew up in the flattest part of a country that has no mountains: perhaps that’s why I really love them. I did grow up next to the sea, though, and have similar feelings towards that marvel. I guess that’s it – both the mountains and the seas seem larger than life, yet they’re reachable.

They’re all beautiful photos, but I think my favourite is the last one. Thanks for sharing!

Growing up on the flat plains, when we’d go to Colorado to visit family I was enthralled with the mountains. There is something special about them. Thanks for sharing these beautiful images.

They are all stunning captures! I find it difficult to give proper credit to mountains in photos – it is just impossible to get it all into one photos when travelling through the Rockies.

All are very beautiful. I would love to live near mountains. It would be peaceful and invigorating at the same time.

Second to the ocean, I love mountains the best. And you certainly have the best I’ve ever experienced. I was so very much in awe of them on my trips north.

Hard to pick a favorite! They are all beautiful and evoke different moods. My eye keeps going back to the one of the lone peak on a sunny day with the healthy evergreens in the foreground. Like driving past Mount Shasta at sunrise on a winter morning, nothing quite captures the scene like mind’s eye, but you do an outstanding job of coming close to that with your lens.

The mountains definitely have different moods and moments. When I’m not visiting I miss them and when I’m there I remember the feeling and wonder at it all. The single peaks often make the best photos since I like the focus. Thanks for your comments.
