Just out of curiosity as I seem to have the same body / lens combination, what tripod / head combination are you using? I’m struggling to find something that I enjoy working with.
I have a Gitzo GT3541XLS and a Jobu Black Widow Mark II head. They work well with my gear when I have the time to set up and get comfortable (I haven’t used any others). The trouble is that wildlife moments can happen quick (and I can get lazy and not pull it out) so I often use my monopod and hand held.

I mostly shoot handheld; it just takes too much time to set the whole thing up. Not an animal in the world is going to wait for me to be ready 😉

Yes time is always an issue. I also use the beanbag on my truck’s open window which is a lot faster setup!
