Only one word comes mind when I look at this photo – hope. What do you see?
More from Nature

Krahnpix was always an odd combination of wildlife photos and my eclectic version of wit. I’m pretty sure I was the biggest fan. I suppose that was a natural outcome of pouring my heart and soul into a project. Through good times and bad, I passionately chased wildlife, learned a few tricks of the trade… Continue Reading

Capturing the grandeur of a beautiful vista is a huge challenge. Add in the improbable size of a mountain and the task seems insurmountable. And yet I try to retain some of that sense in my photos recognizing that standing there breathing it all in is the best it will ever be. There are quite a… Continue Reading

Imagine a bright moon, a calm night and the echoes of wolves howling at a full moon. The mere thot runs shivers down my spine. Then imagine getting a photo of that iconic scene. Priceless. But suddenly the image is exploded by the ruthless pin of reality. It turns out I’ve howled at the moon more often than wolves.… Continue Reading

Thanks. It is one of the few times I was able visualize the shot and then look for the right angle among the chaos of branches to find it. I might have to try that again.

I’m not very good at one word responses. What do I see? I see a photographer who has given a lot of thought to depth of field, who draws our attention to a simple plant, a plant that has lots of interesting details. I see a simplicity of composition, a limited color palette. I see embryonic possibility, new life that is starting, potential growth. I see fragile beauty. This is the kind of image that it is easy to see with your heart and emotions, and not just with your eyes.

I kept returning to this photo and enjoying it but stuck on the one word hope to describe it. I wanted to write a post about it so I left it and kept coming back. Finally I just went with the word. If I had written a post it probably would have included all your observations. So I guess you wrote it for me! Perhaps that is why I was stuck, it is more of an image for the heart rather than just observation.

That’s a good one too – I hadn’t thot of the comparison to a road. I know there’s a lot more beauty to be found in the simple things, I just need to keep looking.

Thanks. There is a magical green in spring that is a better shade than any that will happen in summer!

It seems all I watch anymore are kids’ movies with celebrity voices and wisecracks written-in for the parents.

I used to thoroughly enjoy the comic relief of the wisecracks for adults.
